He offered him a scrap at Leeds train station
A man who sent MP Lee Anderson abusive messages and offered him out "for a scrap" has admitted his crimes in court. Ciaran Belgin, 30, was convicted of sending an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message via public communication network at Leeds Magistrates Court on August 28.
One said: "I'm calling you out. Meet me at Leeds train station for a scrap. The ball's in your court." Another said: "I will burn your house down to the axles. Lose some weight and I might fight you. Regard. Brexit geezer." But Anderson berated the lack of a firmer sentence for Belgin. Online, he wrote: "I suspect if he'd have been 'far right' the sentence would have been much stiffer."
Mr Anderson told Nottinghamshire Live: “The police have done an outstanding job on this case; I cannot thank them enough. I am disappointed with the light sentence, however. This individual threatened to burn my house down and rape my family to mention just a few of the threats made to me.
