Tyreece Alexander Whynder-Ewing was arrested in Toronto five days later and transported to Nova Scotia to face a charge of murder. He appeared in Supreme Court in Halifax on Thursday via a video link from jail to set dates for his jury trial.Whynder-Ewing will be back in court next month to seek bail. Local lawyer Trevor McGuigan is representing him for that application, but Chris Avery of Toronto is his trial counsel.Thomas was awaiting trial on charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement when he was shot to death.
