KOTA KINABALU: A man sustained injuries when he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed the vehicle in Semporna, on Sunday (July 2) noon.
The victim, identified as Omal Lamin Abdul Jaki, 56, had managed to scramble out of his car after the mishap, just as it started to catch fire along Jalan Sinalang near Kg Tagasan.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said the man was assisted by other road users after the crash. "The victim was sent to the hospital by some passers-by. We received a call about the accident at around 12.49pm," he said."The fire was put out and there were no other hazardous elements at the scene," Hamsa said, adding rescue operations ceased at around 1.09pm.The cause of the accident is ongoing.
