Police said they were called to the intersection of Main North and George McCullum roads, just before 8pm on Thursday to reports a car had struck a pedestrian.Police said the 44-year-old male driver from Salisbury North was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution. Emergency services closed southbound lanes on Main North Road for several hours while major crash officers investigated the scene.

The pedestrian's death is the 38th fatality on the state's roads so far this year, compared to 17 by the same time last year. "We are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash — or [who] actually has any dash cam footage and maybe have not yet spoken to police — [to] give us a call, please, at Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," Senior Constable Dave Muir told ABC Radio Adelaide.in an attempt to improve driver behaviour after the deadly start to the year on the state's roads.
