A man is dead following what police described as a confrontation with Mounties in Cold Lake First Nation early Saturday.

Officers entered the home and found a 45-year-old man dead as well as an unspecified number of firearms.No officers were injured during the incident. Separate investigations are underway by the province’s police watchdog, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, as well as the RCMP’s internal review service.
