Parole board officials have referred to Albert Muckle as an \u0022unmanageable\u0022 risk to the public.

Albert Muckle has been in prison since 2006, when he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder. Muckle, who’s now 42 years old, was given an indeterminate federal sentence and a dangerous offender designation — a label only applied to Canada’s most violent criminals — for the brutal attack.Sign up to receive daily headline news from the Calgary SUN, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.

Forensic analysis found Muckle’s DNA on the victim and when found by police the next day, he was in possession of the victim’s underwear. Muckle initially denied involvement with the victim but later admitted to knocking her unconscious, dragging her to the river, stealing her money, punching and raping her.

The parole board states Muckle has been involved in over 70 security-related incidents in prison since 2009. In the last two years, he’s been involved in 10, including multiple instances where he’s made threats to other inmates and one where he said he’d kill his parole officer.Article content
