A 20-year-old man is charged with the murder of 26-year-old Nicholas Scott, who escaped prison custody at the Royal Hobart Hospital late on Monday night and was found shot dead hours later.

The 20-year-old remains in custody and will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court at a later time. Inside the house, they found a man with non-life-threatening injuries who was taken to the RHH for treatment.On Tuesday, police said they were seeking a member of the public who they believe lent Scott their phone "to make a call" at about 11:40pm on Monday outside a bar in the popular nightclub precinct in Salamanca Lane, about a kilometre from the hospital.
