A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with indecently assaulting a child at a fast food restaurant in Adelaide’s east. Marhdu Andrew Rosas fled after being confronted by the child’s parent at Hungry Jack’s on Glynburn Rd in Firle on May 24, South Australia Police allege. The child was not physically injured as a result of the alleged incident, police said. Rosas began crying when he saw his mother in the gallery of the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

During the hearing, he called out: “I love you mum and I’m so sorry.” The 29-year-old was arrested at a home he shares with his mother in Mile End on Saturday. Police charged him with aggravated indecent assault and aggravated gross indecency. Outside court, Rosas’ mother, Melinda, said she believed her son was innocent. “We’re a big family, kids everywhere, running around everywhere. There’s no way he would’ve done this,” she told reporters. “He’s innocent. He’s a beautiful boy. He works hard.
