Man charged in connection with string of Calgary casino robberies yyc
Around 11:55 p.m. on Feb. 15, police were called to the Ace Casino at 40 Aero Cres. The HAWCS police helicopter quickly located a suspect vehicle parked outside Deerfoot City Mall, near Deerfoot Trail and 64th Avenue N.E. The suspect appeared to have changed his clothing before leaving the parking lot, according to police. Officers then witnessed the man driving to the Huntington Hills area, where patrol and canine unit members conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of McKnight Boulevard N.E., and arrested him.Article content
Police believe the same man is also responsible for a robbery at the Cash Casino, at 4040 Blackfoot Tr. S.E., in September of last year, and for a robbery at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino last month. Richard James Buckmire, 62, is charged with five counts of robbery with a restricted or prohibited firearm and three counts of wearing a disguise with intent.
