Police had been advised the man in the vehicle might be armed and had the potential to be dangerous.
A man with a history of firearm offences was arrested Friday night after a two-hour standoff with near Victoria Police Department headquarters.
Officers responded to calls that a stolen recreational vehicle had been seen near the intersection of Quadra and Pembroke streets, one block from the police station. Responding officers established a perimeter around the vehicle and blocked off neighbouring streets between Caledonia and Empress avenues.
The Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team persuaded the man to surrender peacefully about 10:45 p.m. He was arrested on four outstanding warrants.Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact their report desk at 250-995-7645 .
