Two men have been arrested in Sydney during Anzac Day commemorations, with one allegedly biting a police officer just after 4am. 9News
The 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly assaulting two officers on Goulburn Street in Surry Hills just after 4am.
"During the arrest, police will allege that whilst attempting to speak with the man, he became violent and bit one officer on the hand," a statement said.He has since been charged with assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty, assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty causing actual bodily harm and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
A separate arrest occurred in Surry Hills after a 41-year-old man allegedly failed to comply with a move-on direction. He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with refusing or failing to comply with a direction and stalking or intimidating intending to cause fear or physical harm.
