Jason Williams allegedly attacked the woman on a suburban street while she was walking home from a night out.

A man who was allegedly caught raping a woman on a street in south-western Sydney has been granted bail despite concerns he poses a danger to the community – especially older women.

According to the Crown case, the woman, who was intoxicated, had been frightened by his approach “to a point where she took two photographs of him as he faced away from her”, Justice Mark Ierace said. Either immediately before or during the alleged rape, the judge said, the woman seemingly “knocked her head against part of a parked vehicle and may have become unconscious”.The Crown case is that the alleged assault was interrupted by an approaching driver who “captured what was occurring in his headlights and confronted the applicant”, who withdrew and walked away.

However, he said each of those risks was “significantly mitigated” by the bail conditions, with Williams to live with his father in Panania and unable to leave the house unless in the presence of one of his parents – including to report to police, attend court, meet his lawyers, or seek urgent medical assistance.
