A man accused of a shooting spree that triggered emergency alerts and lockdowns in the metro region last fall has been ordered to stand trial in Supreme Court.
32-year-old Matthew Fowler is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, fleeing police, a list of serious gun charges, and refusing the breathalyzer.A provincial court judge found there is enough evidence to proceed to trial following the preliminary inquiry last week. The scary incident unfolded on September 22 of last year in Chamberlains and Foxtrap, but led to emergency alerts, business closures and safe school protocols throughout the metro region while the suspect remained at large.
It culminated in a car chase that ended when Fowler was cornered and arrested on St. Thomas’ Line in Paradise. He has chosen to be tried by judge and jury and is scheduled to be formally arraigned in Supreme Court on March 1.
