MELAKA: An elderly man was allegedly beaten up by a roadside stall trader for complaining about a partially cooked lemang on the eve of Hari Raya.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the 61-year-old retired soldier lodged a report at the Bukit Baru police station on Friday after the alleged assault at a lemang stall along Jalan Bukit Beruang Utama in Bukit Beruang, here.

"The victim was allegedly hit with a hollowed bamboo stick that caused injuries to his left ear and right hand, requiring him to get medical treatment at the Melaka Hospital," he said when contacted on Saturday .
