In the early hours of Thursday morning, about 3.30am, emergency services rushed to an apartment complex on Nicholson Street at Balmain East after receiving reports of a fire. A neighbour raised the alarm after noticing smoke billowing from the second level of the three-storey building and called Triple-0.Fire and Rescue NSW crews carried a 22-year-old man to safety after he was found unconscious in the burning unit at Balmain East. Picture: Supplied."When FRNSW crews arrived on scene, they immediately began fire attack and searched the impacted unit," NSW Fire and Rescue said in a statement.
"Firefighters found a man in a bedroom and carried him to safety before providing initial medical care."
