China Southern Airlines is resuming its direct flights from Adelaide to the city of Guangzhou in a move expected to boost South Australian tourism, and investment in business and trade.
A major Chinese airline has confirmed it soon resume direct flights connecting an Australian state to one of China's largest cities after the route was dropped amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Picture: AP Photo/Xinhua, Wang Jianhua Mr Malinauskas said the Adelaide- Guangzhou route performed"exceedingly well" before Covid and the return of the flights reflect of the state's strong economic trajectory. "We’ve seen a stabilisation of the Australia-China relationship over recent times and that has translated materially for our state.
"The record $4.23 billion of SA exports to China is a great springboard for the growth that direct air freight will enable," he added in a statement. "China Southern Airlines is looking forward to strengthen the cooperation with various sectors in South Australia, continue to expand the 'Canton Route', and bring more travellers from China and around the world to South Australia," he said.
