This Morning host Phillip Schofield has resigned from ITV after admitting to lying about an affair with a colleague for years.
Schofield revealed in an exclusive statement to The Daily Mail he engaged in an affair with a young, male colleague several years ago during his time at This Morning, and subsequently lied about it.
"The first thing I want to say is: I am deeply sorry for having lied to them, and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on This Morning. I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Schofield said he lied about the affair to protect his ex-colleague while continuing to respect his privacy by leaving him unnamed. He also apologised to his former wife for his infidelity.
