A strong magnitude 6.

6 earthquake occurred early Friday morning in Davao Occidental, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology .However, Phivolcs chief Teresito 'Toto' Bacolcol told The Manila Times via Viber that both damage to infrastructure and aftershocks are not expected from the latest tremor that took place around 4:02 a.m. some 377 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island, also in the same province.

'It was a strong earthquake but it was far from us since its epicenter was located somewhere in Indonesia,' Bacolcol said.He said it only recorded Instrumental Intensity 2 in Glan and Kiamba in Sarangani; and Tupi, South Cotabato while Intensity 1 in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Maitum and Malapatan, Sarangani; and Koronadal City and General Santos City, South Cotabato.Tectonic in origin, the quake had a depth of 114 kms, Phivolcs said.
