Five members of the UPEI Panthers have been selected to play the U Sports men’s hockey all-star team for a two-game exhibition showcase against Team Canada’s hopefuls for the upcoming world junior hockey championship. The Panthers will be represented by goaltender Jonah Capriotti, 39; forward and team captain Troy Lajeunesse, 91; forward and assistant captain Kyle Maksimovich, 9; defenceman Matt Brassard, 44, and forward and assistant captain TJ Shea, 81.
“It’s a reflection of the work they put in,” said MacPherson, head coach of the Panthers. “It’s a reflection of the first semester that we have had as a team, and they have had as individuals. The games, which are part of Team Canada’s training camp for the world junior hockey championship that begins Dec. 26, will be played at the Avenir Centre in Moncton, N.B., on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m., and Dec. 12 at noon.
