Mackay Mayor Greg Williamson says the region has received 628mm of rain over the last few days, which will “safeguard” the water supply in the area “for probably 12 months now”.
“It also – in this particular area of the world – recharges the underground aqua verse.
“And that then brings the necessary water to irrigate the crops as the year goes on and gets a little bit drier.”
