Matthew Devine a doubt for Stormers clash but Santiago Cordero could make his debut for the province after ACL injury
Mack Hansen is a massive doubt for the crunch URC clash with the Stormers in Galway - but Santiago Cordero could make his long-awaited debut on Saturday.
The fixture is a must-win for Pete Wilkins' side and, after hoping that Ireland star Hansen would return from long-term injury for last week's defeat at Munster, the westerners are preparing to do without him at the Dexcom Stadium. Hansen has been out of action since suffering a dislocated shoulder against Munster on New Year's Day."I think it's not going to be this week," said Wilkins. "Mack's on a week-by-week basis really. His shoulder is recovering well but it's just getting through that final hurdle of the contact work he has to do.Connacht are chasing a place in the top eight but now find themselves one place outside the play-off berths - four points behind Benetton.
If the Sharks win the Challenge Cup to earn passage into next season's Champions Cup then Connacht may have to make seventh in the standings to play in Europe's premier club competition next season. However the province could have Argentinian Cordero available for the first time after he suffered an ACL injury before the start of the season.
