Lyia Meta in race for Cannes world film fest awards

The Malaysian artiste’s breakthrough in the festival follows her recognition by a US jazz critic as one of the world’s top female musicians.

PETALING JAYA: Singer Lyia Meta, who is more recognised abroad than in Malaysia, is in the running for two film awards at the Cannes World Film Festival.

She said she was informed last week the annual award ceremony will take place at Cineum Cannes on the French Riviera in June next year. Stein had written a review of “Always You” in a popular US music website, describing Meta as “dynamite and honey, power and sweetness”. Meta said: “With the Cannes World Film Festival, the recognition from industry peers and the jury’s validation of my work is indescribable.
