The Land Transportation Office in coordination with the local government, on Monday apprehended 23 tricycle drivers in Quezon City in its implementation of the no-plate no-travel policy.
“This is welcome to our friends in the tricycle operators and drivers associations of Quezon City because we have not only explained the importance of this policy properly but they themselves are complaining about the colorum tricycles that are grabbing the income that should be for them,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said.
Based on reports, in the first hours of the implementation, a total of 16 drivers were apprehended after their trikes were found to be unregistered. The implementation of the policy was consulted with and was agreed upon not only by the Quezon City government but also the leaders and members of different TODAs.
Based on the policy stipulated in the memorandum signed by Mendoza, “all tricycles must display valid and authorized licensed plates at all times while plying the road.” The license plates “must be clearly visible and properly attached to the tricycles.
