Jacek Szenowicz remembers the first time he saw his now-wife, Lainey Lui. It was his first day back at work after the holidays and their fateful meeting took place in … the mail room. Lui was visiting his Vancouver office from Toronto for training. “She turned and looked right at me,” he says. “I remember the moment.” Lui, however? No memory of it whatsoever.
Now that the couple lives and works together in Toronto, they prefer to spend their date nights close by, in their east-end neighbourhood. “Because it's so much more fun to walk to dinner,” Lui says. “That's when it feels like a date in a movie: like we'll dip down to the beach afterwards and spend some time on the boardwalk before we head home. In my mind, like a true narcissist, it plays like a montage.
