MANILA - The National Task Force Against COVID-19 suspended on Sunday the return of locally stranded individuals to to the provinces of Negros Occidental and Iloilo to prevent the spread of the disea

se to these areas.

NTF Chairman and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said he approved a 14-day ban on the return of LSIs to the two provinces on the request of their local government officials. "They have to wait where they are. They should not go to the airport or seaport. We have to get the LGUs to agree to receive them,” Lorenzana said.

“Their problem is that their quarantine facilities are limited and they don’t want to be overwhelmed," he added.Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson asked for the suspension of the LSIs' return to his province to allow local officials time to free up space in their fully-occupied quarantine facilities, Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año said.
