The local Hindu community is doing its part to help those affected by Hurricane Fiona.
The storm slammed into the southwest coast on September 24, destroying properties and leaving dozens of families homeless.featuring vegetarian Indian foods to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross’ Fiona Relief Program. Chair of the Hindu Temple’s Board, Aruna Ralhan calls the fundraiser a “no-brainer,” having seen the devastation the storm brought to Port aux Basques and the surrounding area.They’ve already sold 300 tickets and are hoping to sell 500 in total.
The meals, which will be ready this Saturday, October 15, must be pre-ordered by calling Aruna at 325-3751 or Jayashankar Vattathoor at 351-1613.
