In the first of two interviews to promote his book, Spare, Prince Harry has revealed the extent of his trauma surrounding his mother’s death. | FOLLOW LIVE
But he says that in the lead-up tostories began appearing in the press based on conversations between Camilla and “Willy” - Harry’s name forHe said there was only one person those stories could have come from and they weren’t from Willy.
He says he begged his father not to marry Camilla and just be with her as a de facto couple but that his father made his own decision. “William and I wanted our father to be happy and he seemed to be very, very happy with her,” Prince Harry says. “We asked him not to get married and he chose and that’s his decision.
“But the two of them were and remain very happy together but, unfortunately, with that came...” he says, before being interrupted with Bradby asking if he was really at peace with the decision.“I think there’s a lot of people who after watching the documentary and reading the book will go ‘How can you ever forgive your family for what they’ve done?’.He says that forgiveness is 100 per cent possible but that he doesn’t recognise his brother or father, just as much as they don’t recognise him.
Harry says he had made peace with a lot of things over his life. “But that doesn’t mean I’m going to let it go,” he says.read aloud extracts from his book.was not made for single parenthood, and that he did not deal with nor detect the ongoing mental health issues Harry suffered as a result of living in the public glare following the death of his mother at a young age.
