In a move that signals a fresh chapter for the People's Television Network, Lino Cayetano has issued an initial set of orders as the network's newly appointed general manager.
The directives, forged after a fortnight of assessment and review, underscore a clear mandate to make the network's services closer to and more relevant for every Filipino. At the heart of the program is a comprehensive review and realignment of the channel's programming across all platforms, with the goal of boosting core news and public affairs offerings whilst weaving in a richer tapestry of educational, cultural, developmental and disaster‑preparedness content.
Cayetano's blueprint includes the creation of a dedicated task force charged with steering the network's digital and DTT initiatives. This body will work to activate new digital television channels, broaden the network's social media footprint, strengthen regional coverage and seek partnerships with government agencies, local governments, NGOs and private sector allies.
A parallel committee will scrutinise every staffing position and plantilla, a measure designed to reinforce the workforce ahead of a full reorganisation plan that has been pending for fifteen years. The intent is to cultivate fresh talent through collaborations with the academe and industry while preserving the experience and dedication of long‑standing team members.
