Brown noted that the four men requested that their Section 6 Charter rights “to enter, remain in and leave Canada” be granted based on the precedence of the 2010 Khadr case. That’s odd considering that the 2010 case referenced by Brown sought to have Khadr repatriated, something the Supreme Court said was the “responsibility of the executive” considering their constitutional responsibility over foreign affairs.
Asked earlier this week about the court ruling, Trudeau didn’t rule out the government appealing the ruling, something he didn’t do in the Khadr case. Like it or not, if that is the main impediment to these sick men coming back to Canada, we will likely need to issue them passports.Article content
