After the Sun exposed the $6,000 per night hotel room Trudeau stayed in, the government is refusing to release new details on hotel costs.
, complete with “complimentary butler service” billed out at 4,800 British pounds per night over five nights. While originally reported at being roughly $6,000 per night based on government exchange rates, the actual cost was more than $7,000 per night for the room to house the prime minister.
It is absolutely ludicrous to make such a claim for refusing to release the name of a hotel that government officials stayed in or to say which government official stayed in the expensive room. The events happened months earlier, so releasing this information to the public doesn’t put anyone’s security at risk.Article content
“You don’t get to be prime minister and hide how you spend our tax dollars,” said Franco Terrazzano, federal director of the CTF. “As a matter of principle, the government owes taxpayers transparency.”to try to force the government to release basic information that should be public. There were also rooms booked for meeting spaces, a command centre for an RCMP security team, for storage and more. Room bookings started on Sept. 12 and carried through to Sept. 24.
