Tim\u0027s is making their split with Hockey Canada\u0027s men\u0027s program more permanent, a sign the national hockey organization has lost its way.
Facing multiple allegations of sexual assault on their watch, two slush funds for payouts funded with kids hockey fees and the organization using that same kids hockey fee money to buy a luxury Toronto condo years ago, Hockey Canada is under fire. And rightly so, as this is an organization that appears out of touch with Canadians, especially those who fund them, be it parents registering kids for Timbits hockey or the company selling the Timbits.
“We’re deeply disappointed in the lack of progress that Hockey Canada has made to date,” the company said in a statement.Besides being named for co-founder and hockey great Tim Horton, the coffee and donut chain has been synonymous with heading to the rink since the 1960s. Growing up in Hamilton, the birthplace of the company, no trip to Lawfield or Coronation was complete without parents walking around with a double double and kids begging for Timbits.
