Next week, province will announce an expansion of surgeries and procedures in private clinics paid for by OHIP to clear backlog.

While not giving out details of an announcement that is expected next Monday, Ford did make one thing clear, no one will pay out of pocket. supportive of this idea calling for a model for surgery that would, “include a greater portion of services delivered in community-based specialty settings outside of hospitals.”
The plan is expected to start with moving some basic cataract surgeries out of hospital settings and into IHF facilities. Those include not-for-profit clinics like Kensington in downtown Toronto as well as private clinics which will be paid for by OHIP.
