Chauvet hadn’t discussed the decision publicly until this week. He said the layoffs were a necessary next-step in order to consolidate the company’s acquisitions into “One Lightspeed.” The organization had duplicate employees, but is now “very lean,” he said. Lightspeed purchased several rivals in recent years, most recently NuORDER, a B2B e-commerce company, and Ecwid, which enables small business owners to set up online stores.
