PASIR GUDANG: A fall while painting his house changed his life in the blink of an eye.
The mishap 10 years ago led to Jamaludin Abdul Malik losing his job as a factory operator, and it took him about a year of physiotherapy to learn how to walk again.
“We had to borrow from family and friends. Thankfully, they were generous and kind enough to help, so we were able to start selling nasi lemak,” he said.“Later, we would take orders online and have runners deliver them,” he said. “They will pay a fee of RM15 a month to put up their products, mostly cookies, at my shop. I will help sell them to my customers, market the products online and assist in delivering them to online customers,” he added.“At least they have a place to begin with before expanding their business further on their own,” he said, adding that so far, he has 20 suppliers.
Some of his suppliers have started sending their products to other shops and selling them online.“This is a good sign. My focus is to help them start somewhere. I do not mind if they later decide to put their products somewhere else or do it entirely on their own,” said Jamaludin.
