KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Christina Liew is backing Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) in its bid to make it compulsory for property owners to maintain their own premises.
The Api-Api assemblyman said while it was incumbent upon DBKK to maintain public areas within its jurisdiction, it was imperative that building owners maintain their respective premises and repair damaged fixtures around their buildings.
Liew was commenting on mayor Datuk Noorliza Awang Alip's statement that DBKK was looking at amending its building bylaws to compel landlords to improve the condition of private structures registered in their name. She said as the mayor mentioned, it was important for building owners around the state capital to be responsible for their own buildings' upkeep and repairs.
Noorliza was reported to have said that DBKK was looking to compel landlords to improve the condition of private structures they owned.
