The Liberal Party Member for Flinders Zoe McKenzie has taken a swipe at her critics after drawing the ire of some party members for a congratulatory social media post.
A federal Liberal Party MP has hit back after coming under fire from within her own party following a social media post congratulating a Labor politician on a byelection victory.
"Congratulations Jodie Belyea. You have been a good friend to women across the Mornington Peninsula," Ms McKenzie wrote alongside the photo.One Liberal Party source told The Australian the post was"unforgivable", while another described it as"an absolute act of naivety". "We often complain about the low public standing of politicians but other people take us at our own estimation, and we are always running each other down," she said.
"A few weeks ago in the pages of The Australian newspaper, I was referred to as a new breed of Liberal.
