Opinion: Delighted that Wing Sang Building to become a museum
Long-term rentals business is not self-sustainableLook beyond the words of Vaughn Palmer’s column and see what it is really telling us: The B.C.
I read with interest Joseph Brean’s column, “Ad exec makes unusual pitch for investing in print media.” As a lifelong reader of The Vancouver Sun, I wholeheartedly agree with the need for greater support to maintain our print media. While some columnists may reflect their personal political views, that is their role and it is important to hear from all sides of the spectrum.
As a member of a federal political party, I have made known my support for the print media. The federal digital tax credit for subscribers is not a lot, but is a step in support of print media. Having said that, requiring social media companies such as Facebook, Google and the like to pay for content obtained from mainstream sources is essential.
1. A Langdale to Nanaimo ferry — This would reduce vehicle traffic on the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale ferry and on the Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo ferry. Just think if you want to travel from the Sunshine Coast to Vancouver Island there would be no more need to hop on the ferry across to Horseshoe Bay and wait for the next ferry across to Nanaimo. Just hop on a ferry at Langdale that would directly take you across to Nanaimo.
2. A Langdale to Squamish ferry — I also know that some of the traffic on the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale ferry is traffic coming from Squamish and areas north. Again, this new route would reduce pressure on the Horseshoe Bay to Langdale ferry as well as along Highway 99 from Horseshoe Bay to Squamish. No need to hop on the ferry across to Horseshoe Bay and drive up to Squamish. Just take a ferry directly from Langdale up to Squamish. This does mean upgrades to the existing ferry terminals.
