Re: Vancouver MLA who lives in Greater Victoria defends travel expenses
I was pleased to see the article in Wednesday’s Vancouver Sun concerning repairs to the “cobblestone” streets in Gastown. This has been a disgrace for a long time — so much so that I have been embarrassed to take any out-of-town visitors to Gastown. I would like to add a bit of advice to the city of Vancouver: Do the job right — use granite cobblestones . The streets and pedestrian walkways in Europe have lasted centuries with these “proper” cobblestones.Re: B.C.
A few years ago my husband and I moved into a 55-plus strata complex that did not allow renters. That choice has been altered without our consent and against our wishes in an undemocratic manner. Allowing one renter will necessitate many changes to strata governance.
Perhaps we need a “Senior Minister of Housing” — someone who is actually a senior him/herself. If our government cares about seniors, this is not the way to show it.I read Nicholas Read’s piece: “Plenty of stuff to hand down, but who wants it?” My friend’s adult son told her, “Don’t worry about your stuff because I’m just going to order two dumpsters when you go.”
