We lived on Larch Street between Jennings and Payzant in Halifax for almost a decade till 2016. Our experience was that student excesses were common throughout that area, from Jubilee to Larch to Preston to Jennings.
Councillors will recall the Newman Property at the corner of Larch and Coburg having a contested occupancy-use change from four units that allowed a new rental building to be built with dozens of units all contributing to this density and occupancy change in the area. HRM is responsible for the degrading of this residential community, with rooming houses becoming dominant!Anti-business move
Entrepreneurs pay huge taxes and costs to operate their business; they should be given latitude and allowed the opportunity to maximize profits — that is entrepreneurship! What message is Halifax sending to entrepreneurs by regulating businesses like this? As a Nova Scotian, you are telling me business is not welcome in Halifax.
