Yes trailer parks would be cheaper and faster to build and would definitely create low cost housing. Unfortunately, the City of Calgary likes to shut down trailer parks. Recently the Renfrew park and Blackfoot and Southland were closed and the land sold for future developments. Another park in Ogden will be destroyed in the near future to make way for the Green Line LRT. Thinking outside the box would see tiny house communities being built across Canada.
I invite people to check Big Springs Airdrie. Most of the homes are manufactured and all sit on lots owned by the homeowners. A used single wide sells for approximately $265,000 and I believe a new one could sell for around $350,000.MIKE SWANN, AirdrieIf the governments want to help on rent here are a few simple things: Lower property taxes; lower interest rates on mortgages; remove costly fees on electricity rates; eliminate the carbon tax on heating fuel.
