Readers discuss how the carbon tax is punishing Canadians; the national crime surge; name change folly; and more
Activate your Online Access NowThis issue perhaps more than any other is driving Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives into majority government territory. Flip flops on carbon taxes put an end to the leadership ambitions of both Erin O’Toole and Patrick Brown.Thank you to Tasha Kheiriddin for exposing the cruel reality of Canada’s carbon tax.
But people aren’t taking long Sunday drives anymore; as Kheiriddin states they need vehicles to live their present lives. It is intolerable for Justin Trudeau and the Liberals to increasingly penalize us for driving gas cars in these circumstances. Many politicians put party above country. Many in political office owe their careers to partisanship and polarizing. Hugh Segal checked neither of those boxes. If you want to waste a lot of your time, spend it trying to find someone who will say a bad word about him.
After listing a litany of the PM’s shortcomings, I can only infer that Taube is suggesting there is a way forward for Trudeau in some kind of leadership role.

New Method to Reduce Carbon Dioxide Emissions in OceansA new method using antacid material sourced from Canada and China aims to neutralize the acidic carbon dioxide being absorbed by the world's oceans, reducing legacy carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. The alkaline material will effectively induce the ocean to take up atmospheric CO2, similar to the natural cycle that builds coral reefs and fish bones. This method, inspired by nature, will help in permanently storing CO2 and mitigating the effects of climate change.
