“’Isa sa mga proposals ‘yung mga minimum wage earners ay meron silang mga cash assistance every month para makatulong,” Robredo said during the “Nasugbloom: Multi-Sectoral Assembly” in Nasugbu, Batangas on Saturday.
Robredo, a solo parent since the death in a plane crash of her husband former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo in 2012, lamented the insufficient support of the government for solo parents. “‘Yung scholarships nasa batas na 'yun dati pero hindi siya nasusunod, kaya kailangan sa IRR, kailangan siyang maisingit na priority talaga 'yung mga anak ng mga solo parents,” she said, referring to the Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 200.
Apart from cash aid and scholarships, the presidential bet also plans to provide social services to solo parents such as a facility where they can leave their children while they are at work and a comprehensive medical assistance for their children.
