Applications for the Nanaimo camp are being accepted until March 10 from students in Grade 11 or 12 in a school district in Nanaimo, North Cowichan/Duncan, Oceanside, Port Alberni and Ladysmith.
Grade 11 and 12 students interested in getting an insight into what law enforcement is all about — and what it takes to become a Mountie — can apply to join the RCMP Youth Camp, July 3 to 7.
Applications are being accepted until March 10 from students enrolled in Grade 11 or 12 in a school district in Nanaimo, North Cowichan/Duncan, Oceanside, Port Alberni and Ladysmith. The camp, which was not held for the last two years due to the pandemic, features running, self-defence, law, forensics, marching, team building and other activities. It will be held at a Nanaimo high school.
“[If] you are thinking of a career in law enforcement or as an emergency responder, then this experience is for you,” said Cpl. Jana Rose, whose Nanaimo RCMP Youth Unit organizes the five-day event. — Times Colonist The cost for the camp is $400 and all candidates must be able to pass a fitness test, a police information check and have good attendance at school.
