: The Prime Minister’s Office in Singapore has announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Lawrence Wong will officially assume the role of Singapore’s Prime Minister on May 15.
“Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will relinquish his office on 15 May 2024. He will formally advise the President to appoint Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Mr Lawrence Wong to succeed him,“ according to the statement. However, the plan was revised from Lee’s initial intention to resign before his 70th birthday in 2022, due to Covid-19 pandemic.
