May event saw students collect more than 40 bags of trash

Some 52 Laurentian University MBA students got a little appreciation this week when they were recognized for their efforts during a cleanup blitz back in May.

On May 4, the student volunteers picked up trash in a four-kilometre area that included Bell Park, York Street, Regent Street, Centennial Drive and Paris Street. In two hours, the students collected more than 40 bags of trash. On June 22, the MBA students were treated to a volunteer certification ceremony, organized by the Laurentian MBA Student Association, the president of the group, Afsana Ayub, told Sudbury.com.

On hand for the event was Mayor Paul Lefebvre, LU Faculty of Management Associate Dean Luc Lagrandeur and city Waste Reduction and Diversion Specialist Marianne Denis. "The commitment and hard work demonstrated by these volunteers is truly commendable,” Lefebvre said in the news release. “Their efforts not only make our city cleaner but also foster a sense of community and civic pride. Sudbury is fortunate to have such dedicated young individuals working towards a better future for all of us.""I am incredibly proud of our students from the Faculty of Management.
