Re: 'Just wars that become unjust,' . I am always fascinated when people like Geoff White condemn Israel’s waging a war of “disproportionate aggression.” I wonder what Mr. White feels is “proportionate aggression”? The issue of proportionality is nonsensical. It is a standard that is not required under international law yet demanded only from Israel. On Oct. 7, Hamas broke the ceasefire, knowing full well that the Palestinian population would pay the price. It didn’t care.
White claims that neither Benjamin Netanyahu nor the supporters of his war define what Hamas is as distinct from the whole Gazan population. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is why Israel is endangering its own soldiers by warning Gazans where and when Israel will be attacking and providing corridors for escape. Mr. White is supportive of a ceasefire. As such, he is defacto supportive of the destruction of the State of Israel.
