Large majority of Albertans think crime, violence is worsening: poll yyc abpoli

“We’ve seen a significant uptick in crime and violence, and especially around transit and LRTs,” Large said. “It’s a very noisy topic. It’s one that people are going to be aware of. It certainly can affect them personally.”Supporters of Premier Danielle Smith’s UCP and Rachel Notley’s NDP identify crime as a worsening issue at similar rates.

“This is a very ideological split. You would expect the more conservative voters to be tough on crime, much more pro-police, much more pro-increased penalties,” Large said. ‘We’re trying to address all these root causes, but it’s hard to do as one level of government’: Gondek Neufeld said the COVID-19 pandemic served as a significant disruption across city systems, something he said resulted in an environment that was more permissive of social disorder.
