A large bais fish, known for its contribution to the refreshing water of Leki Spring, was discovered swimming outside its designated area, raising concerns among its caretakers.

A large fish known as 'bais' was discovered swimming in the spring water on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Leki Spring in Brgy. Taloot, City of Argao . It was found by one of the landowners near the spring, Lysiel Fuentes Algabre. In a follow-up by Superbalita Cebu on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the said bais fish was again seen swimming in the clear water of the spring, in its designated area near the spring and observed swimming.

According to Algabre, the Leki Spring is privately owned but has been open to the public for bathing and swimming with a small fee for parking, tables, and cottages. He said they have been taking care of three large bais fish that they believe contribute to the refreshing and cold water of the spring. They have been observing these fish for a long time, and their presence has been attracting many swimmers to the area, especially since it is near the islands in the spring. However, they were concerned when one of the bais was found swimming outside its designated area. Algabre said that on Monday afternoon, January 6, they found the fish outside its area, swimming very weakly. They fed it with fish meal and placed it back in its designated area. He said they are worried that if the bais fish die, the water's freshness might disappear
