Sepanjang tempoh sama, dua kematian akibat dibaham buaya lapan kes buaya ditembak dilaporkan dan 25 aduan diterima JHL Tawau berkaitan kehadiran buaya di kawasan komuniti atau perkampungan.Bercakap kepada Utusan Malaysia, Pegawai JHL Tawau, Primus Lambut berkata, pemasangan papan tanda amaran akan dilakukan setelah menerima aduan daripada orang awam mengenai kehadiran buaya di kawasan mereka.

“Langkah awal adalah pasang perangkap terlebih dahulu untuk dipindahkan dan jika populasi buaya semakin banyak hingga tidak terkawal barulah kami akan bertindak menembak buaya. Menurut beliau, apabila perangkap dipasang, biasanya buaya akan dapat ditangkap dalam tempoh tiga hingga empat hari. Namun, ia bergantung kepada keluasan kawasan kerana ada kalanya tiada buaya yang masuk perangkap.
