OSEG releases a redo of its controversial Lansdowne 2.0 project.
The revised plan for Lansdowne 2.0 eliminates one of the three residential towers, cuts out the affordable housing promise in return for money upfront to build affordable homes elsewhere, and drastically reshapes the financing for the massive re-do of Lansdowne Park.
It will also replace the crumbling north side stands with new seating for 11,200 spectators, but capable of holding 12,000. Critics said the original triple towers were too big for the neighbourhood, casting long shadows and dwarfing the Lansdowne’s showpiece Aberdeen Pavilion. in the Ottawa Citizen . “Lansdowne Park is a community asset, not a liability. It’s owned and used by the people of Ottawa. The true measure of its success isn’t how much tax revenue it produces, but how many people use it over the next few decades, and how it contributes to a better way of life for residents.”The revised Lansdowne 2.0 proposal goes before a joint meeting of the Financial and Corporate Services Committee and the Planning and Housing Committee on Nov.
